ArCoNet has announced a new partnership with the BAPNE method. This method, created by Dr. Javier Romero, is based on the use of body percussion and rhythms to stimulate cognitive functions in order to develop multiple intelligences and improve abilities in processes such as attention, concentration, memory, brain lateralization and body dissociation. The methodology also provides resources and tools for people with special educational needs and some specific conditions such as dyslexia, ADHD, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, brain damage, cognitive impairment, among others.
The word BAPNE is an acronym formed of the words: Biomechanics, Anatomy, Psychology, Neuroscience and Ethnomusicology. Thanks to what each of these disciplines brings, all of these exercises are focused on developing the Multiple Intelligences through teaching body percussion.
ArCoNet will join a prominent network of partners and will leverage the BAPNE method and Philosophy in the United States territory. “We are thrilled to welcome ArCoNet as a new partner, this Organization’s holistic approach to music learning and community development will expands the organization offering and academic curricula,” said Javier Romero, creator and head of the BAPNE worldwide network.

Instructor:
Dr. Javier Romero Naranjo has a doctorate in Musicology from Alexander von Humboldt University in Berlin, where he specialized in early music and carried out his doctoral thesis on Baroque polychoral music under the direction of the musicology professor Hermann Danuser. His thesis, written in German, received the highest distinction possible. He has studied both classical guitar and conducting to a very high level, the latter being a subject that he perfected in Germany when taught by Karl-Heinz Werner and Constantin Alex. He did his undergraduate degree in Geography and History; he then completed a Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology from the University of Maryland (USA). He is a university lecturer accredited by ANECA (Spanish National Agency for Quality Evaluation and Accreditation in Higher Education) and coordinates the doctorate courses on “Research in musical education and movement. Teaching of Body Percussion” at the University of Alicante.
His primary teaching activity consists of seminars at universities and training centers in the USA, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Italy, Germany and Spain. He is the author of various different published pieces of investigation in prestigious research centers and universities such as the Sociedad Española de Musicología (Spanish Musicology Society) and the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council). Javier Romero is involved in seminars and doctorate courses in Spain, Mexico, Italy and Venezuela with the FESNOJIV (the winning university of the Prince of Asturias prize), the UCLA and the University of Costa Rica.
He manages various research projects within the university framework and has also been on the examining board of various different doctoral theses.
He has carried out field work on movement in different cultures, mainly in Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Senegal, Ghana, Gambia, South Africa and Ethiopia. His contribution has earned him the interest of various different media agencies, through report and interviews on TVE, RAI, Cadena COPE, RAC 1 and Promar TV, amongst others.
